I thought I could inspire you with some easy autumn crafts with kids.
We love this time of year as the days begin to shorten but with warmth in the air still. Afternoon walks with long shadows and foraging for our Autumn display and crafts.
Each month as part of our home education we enjoy reading The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady as the illustrations are amazing and it has inspirational content geared towards our style of homeschooling.
An easy and fun Autumn painting kids craft is draw round your childs hand, paint it brown for the tree and then dip cotton tips (buds) in autumnal coloured paints for it’s leaves. So simple and effective and great for different aged children.
Another Autumn Craft with kids is pine cone painting. There is also great joy to be had outdoors collecting the pine cones beforehand.
This next craft was a little trickier so just my two eldest made these whilst my 2 year old played with the yarns. Start by cutting cardboard leaf shapes and wrap with autumn coloured yarns and tape the end of the yarn to stop it unravelling.
We displayed our finished yarn leaves with a battery operated tealight in a glass jar part filled with dried corn.
Another craft that requires little explanation is the mobile of Autumn leaves which also make a great sun catcher.
On one of our Autumn walks we collected some sticks so we used one to hang our finished leaves on. We decided to keep our leaves with our Autumn display rather than use it as a sun catcher.
Simply cut out a leaf outline from paper or card and stick this to adhesive contact paper/film and fill in with tissue paper in autumn colours. Cover with more contact paper and trim before hanging.
