AMAZON FIRE TV STICK REVIEW

When we moved house I got a better than awesome deal with Sky and had the luxury of a Sky Q box but the renewal price after the 12 month contract was due to expire was far too expensive.  As part of my terms and conditions I had to return the Sky Q box so had to think about my options for TV.

No outdoor aerial limited our options.  We tried to hook up an old Sky box but just couldn’t get it working.

As luck would have it I bought the Amazon Fire Stick for £25 during the Black Friday sale, RRP £40.

I signed up to Amazon Prime for their 30 day trial so made the most of watching free Prime videos.  If you are already an Amazon Prime customer or watch a lot of movies then it could be worth paying £7.99 for Prime membership for you.

We as a family we don’t watch that many movies.  Mainly we wanted to just watch TV but it’s not on all day every day.

The main things I love about Amazon Fire Stick are:

  • Easy to use, even the kids can use it with the simple menu navigation.
  • You can use it without paying for Prime as there are plenty of programmes and channels available on apps such as BBC iplayer & YouTube being our favourites.
  • Stream live TV or search for programmes.
  • Alexa voice commands are quite entertaining and we quite often ask random questions but it is handy and when you ask for a programme or movie it will also display suggestions too.

Initial set up is really easy.

Simply plug it into your TV and follow the prompts, it even comes with batteries for the remote.

As a family we did need a little time to adjust from Sky TV to Amazon but overall we are very happy with it.  It does the job, the cost is great and I would certainly recommend it.  I’m definitely more than happy using the Amazon Firestick and won’t be shopping around for any other deals as this really suits our needs both for viewing and financially.
