The highlight from Sunday Snippets was a visit to Beaumaris Castle on Angelsey.  I haven’t been there since I was a child on holiday with my family so it was lovely to return there.  I couldn’t believe that it was open so late in the year as a lot of places close out of the holiday season, the weather was dry and it’s not too far for us to travel.

It was a last minute decision to have a family day out.  Everyone was asleep when I had the idea to have a family day out and the excitement to tell everyone in the morning kept me awake…. silly me!

We made a picnic and hot chocolate in the flask and set off for our adventure.  We didn’t tell the girls where we were going until we made it to our destination, Beaumaris Castle.

The kids loved exploring Beaumaris Castle.

It was lovely and quiet and it felt for the most part that we had the castle to ourselves.  Yes it was cold being December but that doesn’t stop the fresh air and fun.  The castle itself is beautiful.  The video room was a great source of information on the history of the castle.  The staff were lovely there and a quiz was handed to the girls to keep their interest on the way round.  The prize at the end was a lovely little badge of Beaurmaris Castle.

All three of the kids loved constructing a roof truss and clanging metal to demonstrate how the castle would have sounded when it was being worked on.

We also went to a Christmas Market and Beaumaris beach.

It was nice to have a family day out where the kids could run round and I could get the camera out.
